This report presents and discusses the methodological approach for the development of a regional monitoring indicator set for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the framework of the REGIONS2030 project. The report presents the methodology and the criteria for the selection. The report also includes the list of indicators that will be the starting point of SDG monitoring for piloting regions of the project. The indicator set is a result of an iterative process that in brief included the identification of sources of indicators (with respective information on their methodology of calculation and other related metadata), the filtering, merging and selection of indicators that were fit for the REGIONS2030 project and the EU regional dimension, and the respective filling in of all related information regarding among others their availability in European countries, coverage, timeliness, alignment with other monitoring frameworks.

La Agenda 2030, un marco universal para que todos los países contribuyan a erradicar la pobreza y lograr un desarrollo sostenible antes de 2030, que incluye un ambicioso conjunto de 17 objetivos de desarrollo sostenible, será adoptada hoy en una cumbre de las Naciones Unidas en Nueva York.

La Agenda de Desarrollo Sostenible 2030, que se adoptará hoy en las Naciones Unidas. establece un marco global para erradicar la pobreza y lograr un desarrollo sostenible antes de 2030 a partir de los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio (ODM), adoptados en 2000. Como primer acuerdo global que establece un programa de acción global y universal, la Agenda 2030 incluye un conjunto ambicioso de 17 objetivos de desarrollo sostenible (ODS) y 169 metas conexas, cuya consecución movilizará a todos los países y partes interesadas y afectará a las políticas nacionales. La Agenda 2030 incluye también la Agenda de Acción de Addis Abeba de las Naciones Unidas adoptada en julio, que define los diferentes medios necesarios para aplicar la Agenda 2030, incluyendo recursos nacionales, financiación privada y ayuda oficial al desarrollo (AOD).
